Biography
Sergio Rodriguez was born and raised in the Coachella Valley. He is a proud son of Mexican immigrants. Sergio graduated from California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a minor in Multicultural and Gender Studies. Upon his graduation he came back to the Coachella Valley. He was hired to work for Non-emergency Medical Transportation company where he was the supervisor overseeing the day-to-day operations, public relations and marketing. After 3 years, he joined a local non-profit organization, Pueblo Unido Community Development Corporation, where he held the position of community outreach and program coordinator. Pueblo Unido is dedicated to helping residents and owners of Polanco mobile home parks in the Eastern Coachella Valley by leveraging resources to improve infrastructure and overall living conditions. In January 2022 he joined the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation, where he works as a program assistant to the chief of community engagement. At DHCD, he initially worked to aid in the COVID-19 response testing and vaccination efforts. Currently he co-facilitates monthly meetings with the Coachella Valley Equity Collaborative and assists with projects such as Connect IE, the mobile clinic deployment and the new initiative in environmental health. It is his pleasure to continue working alongside all his peers in the district.
